MONTROY, Marlyn

1938 - 2017

Montroy, Marlyn (nee Sutton)

Passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on December 4th, 2017, age 79. Beloved wife of over 60 years to Mervin. Loving mother to Rick (Kim), Joanne (David), Darlene (Denis), Peter, Paul (Ross Lynne), Kim (Garry) and Cheryl (Ian). Awesome Grandma/Granny/nanny to Charmain, Kaitlyn (Marc), Joshua (Laura), Amanda, Vanessa, Phillipe (Stephanie) and Christine. Loving great grandmother to Liam and Sabrina. Dear sister of Donald (Beth). Marlyn was an avid baseball player, having played in the 60+ RA league for many years. She loved her curling and knitting, but most of all loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends are invited to visit the family at the Cooperative Funeraire de l’Outaouais, 1369 boul. La Verendrye ouest in Gatineau on Friday, December 15th, from 1pm until the service in the Chapel at 2pm, followed by a reception where the family would love your attendance as Marlyn always loved parties. The Montroy family would like to thank the staff at the Ottawa Heart Institute for their unbelievable care and dedication over the last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Ottawa Heart Institute would be greatly appreciated.

I was greatly saddened to read of Marlyn's passing. The two of you were icons for many years on the ball diamonds at the RA Centre. Together you made a great team. The 60+ league will miss her smile, dedication and energy. My sincerest sympathies to you and your family.

Mervyn et famille

I'd like to extend our sincerely condolences to Marlyn's family on behalf of our (her) 60+ softball league in Ottawa. The grands and great grands are lucky to have known such a vibrant spirit. Along with Mervyn, Marlyn was the first to be officially recognized for long-time contribution to the League. Although she won't be back on the field with us in 2018 as she planned, her memory will remain with us.

"What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We may not understand why you left this earth, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget"

Merv

Our deepest and sincerest condolences on this terrible loss. My wife and I are shocked and so incredibly saddened by this unexpected and terrible news. Marlyn was a much-loved player and team captain of the 60+ Slo-Pitch league. We loved her strong, take-charge, no guff, personality, and her sense of humour. We were just assuming that we would be on the diamond with again next year. But dam, that won’t happen. We will be thinking of her though next spring, at that first ball game.

Merv - we are so so sorry for your loss.

Mervin and the Montroy Family

So sad to hear about Marlyn's passing. I had the privilege of playing the last few games of the 2017 season under her captaincy and had a great time. A very competitive lady but stressed having fun no matter the score. She will be missed by all.

God bless you.

I will always remember Marlyn for her passion for softball and how welcoming she was to me when I first played in the 60+ league. She was a real people person & we enjoyed many laughs over the years. Her passing really shocked me as it was so recent that we were on the field together. The sadness I feel will be shared by many others. My deep condolences to you and your family,Merv. Bob Hansis

To Our Loving Mother in Heaven

If Roses grow in Heaven
Lord, please pick a bunch for us,
Place them in our mother's arms,
And Tell her they are from us.
Tell her We Love her and miss her,
And when she turns to smile,
Place a Kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
We do it every day,
But there's an ache within our hearts
that will never go away.

The Family of Marilyn Montroy

So sorry to hear of Marilyn’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of sorrow.
I’m trying to contact Donald and Beth. We have lost contact over the years since my mother’s passing. Would you have a phone number or address for them? I’d like to attend the funeral tomorrow but the address for this funeral home is not listed on the 411.ca .I would need directions and would perfer to travel with someone else to attend the funeral.
My number is 613 543 2317 or 613 363 5895. I’m Jean Sutton’s daughter from Winchester.
If you could get back to me I’d appreciate it.
Thanks and I’ll look forward to hearing from someone in the family.
Give our condolences to all of the members of your family.

Today is the saddest day of my life, I feel so empty inside…

What am I going to do without you?
The only words that come to mind are…I LOVE YOU, MOM
Always in my thoughts, my memories and in my heart xoxo…
