GRAHAM, Muriel Myrtle

1947 - 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Muriel Graham at the age of 77 at Teck Pioneer Residence with her family by her side. Muriel was born January 19, 1947 in Foleyet, Ontario. She moved with her family to Swastika at the age of 13 years old. Swastika is where she married and started her family until moving to Kirkland Lake for many years before moving to Larder Lake with her daughter Penny who took on the role of primary caregiver.

Murt, as the KL sports world knew her, was an avid sports player. Playing broom ball at the old KL arena in her younger adult years and baseball throughout the majority of her life. For many years she played fastball and then onto slo-pitch. Murt was often described as one of the best ball players in KL. She brought her big smile to the ballfield along with her amazing talent. Upon her retirement from baseball, you would always see her cheering on her teammates she played with for many years. Some of those teammates became a second family to her and vice versa. Another passion of Muriel's was BINGO, she chased the money and in doing so won the big jackpot while playing Super TV Bingo televised every Saturday night. Also known as Grama, Grama Murt, Gma, GMurt, she played an integral part of her grand children’s lives. Big heart, kind, gentle, loving are just the tip of the iceberg when describing her. She will sadly be missed by everyone that knew her.

Muriel was one of eleven children and is predeceased by her mother Mary Alice Lachance and father George Fraser. Daughter Lynn Brown, son in law Shane Allison, sisters Barbara, Sheila, Marjorie, Edwina, brothers Theron, Rheal and sister-in-law Donalda.

Left to mourn are her four loving daughters Brenda Graham, Debra Allison, Penny (Jason) Kwierciarz, Lori Graham (Brian Kenny) Siblings Delphine Blenkhorn (Fred), George Fraser, William (Wendy) and Fran (Cindy).

Grandchildren Tyler and Brendan Fraser, Matthew and Alexandria Graham, Stephanie Dupont. Catlin and Channing Graham, Chance Kwierciarz. Jamie-Lee and Tanner Allen. Stefany and Darian Allison. Clifford Brown.

Great-Grandchildren Wyatt, Xavier / Alannah, Aaliyah, Zayden / Kinslee, Theo / Baby Harrison / Paisley, Weston / Peyton / Memphis / Delsin / Rowan, Parker / Lily, Jett / Rainbow. Also left to mourn are many nephews and nieces who will miss their loving Auntie Murt.

Muriel’s Family

I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Murt in her younger days, however her kind heart and sense of humour remained very apparent in her later years for sure . Not uncommon to be the recipient of a warm wack in the bottom followed by a big grin as wheeled away laughing. You will be missed by many in our little corner of the world. Hugs to all of you ️

Entire family and friends of Mert's

I am so sad to have seen this obit for Murt. Oh the memories of Swas back in the day, broomball, baseball, etc. I loved hanging out at Mrs. Fraser's house where I often played with Marjorie and grew up knowing the family. Murt of course was such an athlete and one of the sweetest people I had the privilege of knowing. Deepest and most sincere sympathy to you girls, you were raised by the best. "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest". RIP Murt,

How I have dreaded hearing this news! Murt was such an enduring presence in the lives of so many of us, especially (in my eyes anyway), those of us from Swas. I know that I learned much about life from her. Girls and family my deepest sympathy to you all! The angels will rejoice now that she is back home while we left behind, cry. Thank you for sharing her with us.
God bless your soul Murt as you run fast and far and free.

With love…Karen Johanson
