Kathleen Peters passed away on January 30, 2010 at Extendicare Nursing Home in Kirkland Lake Ont. Born in Timmins on October 6, 1914, she survived the Great Fire of 1922 in Haileybury and soon moved to Chaput Hughes, Ont. Mrs. Peters leaves her son, Robert Peters and is predeceased by her husband, Ira August Peters, sisters Violet MacLean, Shirley Anderson, and brother Ted Lee. She will be sadly missed by her nieces Kathleen Bell (North Bay), Carol MacLean (Kirkland Lake), Gail Haines (Indianapolis, Indiana), Virginia Scott (Nanaimo, BC), Shirley Davies (Timmins), Patricia Lee (Ottawa) and nephew Jay Lee (Kirkland Lake). Kay was a long time resident of Kirkland Lake where she spent the last several years of her life at Extendicare. She was loved dearly by her daughter/care-giver, Nadine Laflamme. Other staff members close to her enjoyed her wit and her love of life. She was visited by her close friends Tilley Bruce, Stan Bryndza, Fred Bukowski, Rick Danis, Robert and Aline Hay, Marge Helen Ferguson and Erica Schallenberger. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all of us as a very spirited, gentle and kind lady. A service will be held by Reverend Mark Moote, Anglican Church of Canada at Extendicare Nursing Home in Kirkland Lake at a future date. To Bob & Nadine: Please accept my humbliest condolences for the loss of your Mother & Mother-in-Law. She was a great lady with a definite mind of her own. Your dedication to her is to be admired. Some of my most treasured childhood memories growing up on Macassa Lane in Chaput Hughes include the Lee/Peters families. Thank you for every one of them that include you Mrs Peters.
