DESJARDINS, Armand

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Armand Desjardins on Thursday February 1st, 2024 at the age of 77.  He was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario and worked as a sales representative for heavy construction equipment for over 50 years.  He was also a member of the National Capital Heavy Construction Association of Ottawa. 

He is survived by his beloved wife Nicole (nee Rancourt), his cherished daughter Lynn, and his precious grandchildren Mathieu, Ophelie and Lexi. He leaves many siblings behind: Gerry (Kim Dugan) of London, Fern (Diane Prévost) of Sudbury, Claire (Gerry Cyr) of Iroquois Falls, Ernie (Pauline Laurin) of Sudbury, Rolly (Helen Poulin) of Chatham, Carmen (Linda Eburne) of Ottawa, Roger (Kelly Eldridge) of Ottawa as well as many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents Lionel and Juliette (nee Savage).  He also leaves behind his Rancourt brothers-in-law Gerry (Carol Johnson), Ray (Cecile Quenneville), Mike (Rejeanne Gladu), Dan (Roni Bartelds deceased), Rejean (Denise Labonté); he was predeceased by Marcel (Carmelle Nadon), Rolly (Raymonde Guilbeault) and Norbert (Madeleine Nadon).

Armand will forever be remembered for his kindness, his generosity and loyalty to his family and friends.  He was a Mr. Fix It and would go to great lengths to help anyone in need. He loved to travel with his wife in their motorhome and were known snowbirds every winter in sunny destinations. He also enjoyed fishing, cruising the Caribbean and camping with his family and friends providing many wonderful memories.  

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 7^th, 2024 from 2 pm to 5 pm, followed by a reception.  The family will receive condolences between 1 and 2 pm at the Coopérative funéraire de l’Outaouais, 1369 La Vérendrye Boulevard West in Gatineau.  The ceremony will also be streamed online via https://commemora.tv/fr/diffusions/85980 .  Anyone who wishes can share a personal story, eulogy during the ceremony in celebration of Armand’s life. 

The family would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to the staff of the Civic and General hospitals, with special mentions to Dr Alex Rochon and Armand’s favorite nurse and caregiver Kenzie Allison who went over and beyond to bring support and comfort during their time at the hospital.  Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Armand immediately became one of my most favourite faces to see every morning or evening when starting a shift. Familles Desjardins-Rancourt

Avons perdu un bon ami, notre homme à tout faire. Lorsque nous étions en panne pour quelque soit la raison on fait quoi? On appelle Armand.
