November 13,1927 - November 29, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Juliette announces the passing of Mom at the age of 96. She passed away in her little room at Extendicare in Kirkland Lake with family at her side.
She leaves in mourning Suzanne Desjardins Girouard (Michel) from Kapuskasing; Pierre Desjardins (Robin) from Kirkland Lake. She also leaves Cheryll Desjardins who was married to Michel who passed away in 1994 from Sault Saint Marie. Also Louise Desjardins (Denis) from Alexandria; Paulette Desjardins from London; Daniel Desjardins from Swastika; and Denis Desjardins from Swastika. She also leaves her sister-in-law Vivianne Chartrand (Roger) from New Liskeard. She leaves her brother Patrick Tremblay (Elise) from Kelowna; her brother Joseph Tremblay (Rejeanne) from Val d'Or as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the beloved Memere of Angela, Julien, Natalie, Pierre, Andre, Elizabeth, Alexandre, Charles, and Danielle, not to mention 13 great-grandchildren.
She was a very courageous and hard-working woman who overcame many challenges throughout her life. She spread her love and good humour everywhere she went. She never had a bad word to say about anybody. They say she saw the world through rose-coloured glasses.
Her secretarial skills were appreciated in many schools in Kirkland Lake. An enterprising lady, she managed Lou General Store in Swastika after Lou's premature passing.
She was an avid stamp collector, a pastime she started when she was twelve. She was a great cook and a constant shutterbug for her loved ones.
She was predeceased by her first husband Lucien Desjardins and her second husband Maurice Mathieu.
A celebration of her life will be held in the Spring of '24.
Our family would like to sincerely thank the hard-working staff at Extendicare in Kirkland Lake. Their care and attention made Juliette's last chapter as pleasant as possible. Our family truly valued and recognised the nursing staff's efforts. Merci beaucoup!

I first met Julie as a young teenager and ever since she has been Mémère to me. She was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. She always welcomed me as family. Matante Juliette was such a very special lady! Her positive attitude, her quiet demeanour and her caring and compassionate way are a few of the traits I hold so dear and remember when I think of Matante. My childhood memories are filled to the brim with such beautiful times, laughs and fun with my cousins and my Matante Juliette. May she rest in peace.

Her and my mom were a tag team and I loved her weekly hair appointments and gin and tonic where we laughed and shared in the joy of those two women just being together as sisters.
