BLAIR (GIRARD), Lori

1970 - 2023

BLAIR, Lori (Girard)

December 13th, 1970 – November 6th, 2023

Lori Blair passed away at the Temiskaming Hospital on November 6th at the age of 52 years old surrounded by the love of her family. She is survived by the love of her life, Chris Blair, and her children, whom she adored, James and Amber Blair.

Lori was born and raised in Sturgeon Falls to Andre Girard and the late Faye Girard. She was immensely loved by her siblings the late Lynda Smits (Dave), John Girard (Lise), and David Girard. She will be deeply missed by her mother-in-law Lorraine Blair (late Gerald Blair) and brother-in-law David Blair (Gabi). She was the much-loved aunt of Sara Chusroskie (Derrick), Steven Smits (Taylor), Ashley Girard, Cameron Blair, Morgan Blair and dotting great-aunt to Clark Chusroskie and Leo Smits. Lori enjoyed and cherished many happy memories with a large group of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Lori’s calling in life was as an educator, where she taught French immersion, Core French and Grade 2, at ECCS (English Central Catholic School) in New Liskeard. She also taught in Corbeil and Oshawa. Her classroom was one of her favourite places to be, and her high-energy lessons and songs are sure to be remembered by all of her past students and colleagues.

Lori developed an incredibly strong group of friends over the years which she leaned on in her final days. Lori and her family are eternally grateful for all of the effort, love and support.

Lori was a bright light in the lives of so many. She was unapologetically her and loved ferociously. She loved nothing more than gathering with friends and family and sharing a laugh or two. She loved as big as she could, and that capacity for love will be carried on by all who experienced her love.

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” We are all better people because we had Lori in our lives, and we will spread love as enthusiastically as she did for the rest of our days.

Lori and her family would like to acknowledge the incredible care team who took excellent care of her over the last few months. Special acknowledgement to her incredible family doctor Dr. Corbeil for her care, empathy, and friendship.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Temiskaming Hospital Foundation Hospice Palliative Care Suite or to the Temiskaming Foundation’s Community Cancer Care Fund will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

James & Amber

To both of you, know how much your mom loved you!!

I met your mom cause of you ! We were both in an adoption support group. Best thing that could ever happened in that group! I met the best person ever! She became my friend ! A dam good one too! Because of you, I got to see my friend in hockey arena, tournament , social events. Because you exist, our friendship existed. .

She ALWAYS talked so beautiful about you both! I admired how much she loved you both so much! There was nothing you could ever do to lower the lever of love she had for you! She was an exceptional Mom! So so soooo caring ! And understanding !

It is very very sadning that she had to leave so early ! I wish I had a magic wound to bring her back to you! To all of us! But know in your heart that her love for you is not over. She is still watching over you. Her soul is connected with yours for more then just a life time. You are for ever bound !

It’s ok to be sad!
It’s ok to miss her !
It’s ok to cry !
But she also wants you to continue to be happy!

This is not the end…souls are for ever ! Xx

Chris, to your beautiful kids, to all of us who grew up on Cache Bay rd.

Why did Jen cross the road? To go to Lori's house of course. I was 2 years old, she was 3. She was the older girl, the one I looked up to, the reason I survived growing up on Cache Bay rd in Springer township. She was my first friend, she’s known me the longest. So many memories of us dancing to the Grease soundtrack, the Bee Gees, Fame, to anything and everything. Adventures in the woods behind my place, Skating on rink at Pie XII school, neighbourhood hide and seek ...I could go on. She was my line to cable t.v., Days of Our Lives, 20min workout, Happy days, The Dukes (all the programs I was never allowed to watch). With our young eyes and minds, we learned the ways of the world. For a many good years, there was very little I did without her very little she did without me. The people that we grow up with, that spend time with us in our youth have a most powerful influence and they live inside us forever. Lori is part of who I am today no doubt about it. Although for sometime we have been far far from being just across the street from one another, she never felt like she was far away. I will not be able to say enough or write exactly what she meant to me, I will not be able to convey what her death means to me. If I wait too long to write the perfect thing before I post this, I will likely never will. I am very sad that I won’t be there with John, and Dave and Andy, her precious kids and husband Chris. I am sad that I won’t be there to see all the people that she loved and that loved her. I am devastated that I could not say good bye. I know how important her family and community was to her. I know above everything else just loved. Love you Lor

The Family of Lori Blair

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Lori Blair. As a teacher to both my children, Paige & Cody, Lori had a significant impact on their lives and education. I remember the enthusiasm and dedication Lori brought to the classroom, fostering a love of learning in all the students.

Lori’s passion for teaching was evident in the way she engaged with her students, creating a positive and nurturing environment for learning. My children often spoke highly of Lori, sharing stories of the valuable lessons they learned and the genuine care they received.

Lori's loss is deeply felt, not only by our family but also by the countless students and colleagues whose lives were touched by her presence. Lori's dedication to education and the positive influence she had on young minds will always be remembered.

During this difficult time, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire Blair family. If there is anything we can do to offer support or assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.

May the memories of Lori bring comfort and strength to all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.
