Tarsilla “Tarsy” Devereaux
January 2, 1953 – June 15, 2025
With her loved ones by her side, Tarsilla “Tarsy” Devereaux passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025 at Blanche River Health in Kirkland Lake, at the age of 72.
Born in Kirkland Lake to Joseph and Francis DeLenardo on January 2, 1953, Tarsy lived a life filled with compassion, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community. A dedicated Registered Practical Nurse at Kirkland District Hospital, Tarsy was passionate about caring for people of all ages. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond the hospital walls—her home was a safe haven for many, earning her the title of “neighbourhood mom.”
Tarsy’s greatest joy in life came from her family. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Eric Hammond (Angie) and Kyle Hammond (Trudy), and a proud grandmother to Quintin, Brady, Katie, EJ, Blake, and Bella. She also embraced her role as step-grandmother to Steven, Bradley, and Tristen, whom she loved dearly.
Tarsy is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Francis DeLenardo (née Larocque); her beloved husband, Joseph Devereaux; her siblings Albert, Joseph, Corinne, and Bonnie; and her cherished nephew, Shawn “Shimmer” DeLenardo.
She leaves behind her sons and grandchildren, her brother Shawn DeLenardo (Anita), sister-in-law Debbie DeLenardo, brother-in-law Alex Jablonski, and many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Debbie for her incredible care and compassion in recent months. Deepest gratitude also to Emily, Tarsy’s lifelong friend, who remained lovingly by her side in her final moments.
Tarsy’s legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness lives on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 20th, 2025 at Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Donations in Tarsy’s memory may be made to the Northern Cancer Fund (https://hsnfoundation.com/donation-form/northern-cancer-fund) or to the Timiskaming Palliative Care Network (145 Government Road East, Kirkland Lake, ON P2N 3P4).
I’ve known of Tarcy as their family lived in the same neighborhood as me in the earlier years but had always said hello and had short chats when we seen each other in the early mornings shopping! I’ve reconnected with some of her relations thru her best friend Emily Boisvert!! May she fly with angels and rest in peace!!
Sorry to hear of the passing of Tarsy. We worked together for many years to KDH. She was dedicated to caring for her patients and worked hard to keep them comfortable. When I moved into the neighbourhood she was over immediately with a welcoming gift. When out walking I sometimes stopped and chatted on her front deck or was invited in for tea. After fighting numerous challenges may she rest in peace.

I was saddened to hear of Tarsy’s passing, I enjoyed the times when I would volunteer with her at your school, growing up. I admired her determination when she decided to go back to school to become a nurse she had a lot of spunk ! I know how much she loved her boys, thinking of you both at this sad time ️
